In 2018 Alan wanted to start a company that allowed him to pursue two of his passions – driving and meeting new people. He had had experience in a previous role just providing airport transfers but wanted more and to be able to engage with his guests and show them more of our beautiful country. So that’s when we decided to start the business. We threw a few names around and ended up with “Explorextravel” which is what Carleen’s family used to say when we were heading off somewhere.

We started with one Van offering transfers to and from Auckland Airport and our client base was primarily domestic guests.  Today we now have 14 vehicles in our fleet and a team of 12 working with us and our main client base is very much a mixture of International and Domestic market.

We now offer a range of private tours and transfers throughout the North Island of New Zealand and are now working on South Island tours for some of our overseas agents.

All our team are selected for their personalities and driving skills and our desire is to ensure that all guests have a memorable experience whilst in our care.  We often start as strangers and end up as friends.
